Fong Lye Restaurant

This is actually a Taiwanese based restaurant. Located on Level 3, The Gardens, MidValley. It is near to Borders Book Store, Sushi Zenmai, Flying Chilies and Rock Corner.

The place is relatively nice but if you are planning to go in a crowd of 8, you might have a problem having all of you seated on the same table. By far, the table seating is good for 2 - 6 people if you are looking for comfort eating. 8 max if you don't mind a little sharing.

There are always large crowd during peak hours, especially over the weekends. However, the good gestures they offered for the long queue is a small glass of lime juice, which is pretty refreshing. 

Sweet Potato Balls

A pretty good appetizer. Cute little thing; nice to munch on. Do be aware that it could get a little oily when it is really fresh. Believe, when you start, you can't stop. It's just a mouth full and somehow, will make you munch more of it.

"San Pei Ci" - 3 cup chicken

This set is worth the money. Besides the main dish, which consist of the "San Pei Ci" and a bowl of Taiwanese Rice, you get another appetizer, which consist of 3 small portion of vegetables with  a bowl of Chinese soup of the day.

This dish would be a little spicy with a splash of aromatic basil. Good for those who enjoy spices.

"Cha Chiau Mian" - Noodles in sauce and vegetables

Here is an untouched full noodles set. The appetizer is similar to that of the Rice Set above. This set here is relatively lighter with lots of vegetables on both side. The middle brown thing is the sauce that comes with Tofu and meat.

Unique taste, which I enjoyed. However, his dish will be a little salty for those who are not too keen on salty food.

They have variety of drinks from ice blended to hot Chinese tea. This time round, this is what we had.

Ice Cold Refreshing Lime Juice (didn't had enough while waiting!). A pot of nice Jasmine+Oo Long Chinese Tee. Generally, Jasmine tea has a sweet floral aroma coupled with the Oo Long tea that carries a little tannin/woody bitterness. With the combination, we have a great tea.

A little on the higiher end as the set range between RM12 to RM20. Normal dishes like the Sweet Potato balls is at RM2.


Result

Good food. Do try the ABC (Ice Blended Desert with red beans and Black jelly). 

Ambience is not too bad for casual chat. Would be a little noisy if serious or intimate chat is required.
